The people of Famagusta were forced to leave by the invading Turkish army. The buildings were looted. The neighbourhoods deserted. 46 years later, all that is left are trees that stand tall in spite of the raging winds of history. Every branch that rises high and every root that grows deep into the earth is there to remind us that Famagusta patiently awaits the day when its people shall return. We, the people of Famagusta won’t give up. We stand our ground.
